Recognized optical expertise
ImmerVision's Optical Design Division is led by Professor Simon Thibault, PhD, whose 15 years' experience in optical design includes five years as the head of the Optical Design Group at INO (Institut National d’Optique, Quebec). Simon Thibault received a BSc in Physics Engineering in 1994 and an MS in Physics in 1995 from the Laval University (Quebec, Canada). He completed his PhD in 1998 in optical design systems at the same university. He joined ImmerVision (Montreal, Canada) in April of 2005 as Principal Optical Designer and Director – Optical Division, after five years as head of the optical design department at INO. He is the author and co-author of 12 patents and of over 80 technical communications and papers in well-known optics conferences and journals. Mr Thibault is also involved with several international conference program committees in optics, and is a frequent invited speaker. Current interests include optical design of wide angle imaging systems for security, surveillance, space, robotic, automotive and entertainment applications. He is an expert in virtual system modeling, stray light and photometric/radiometric analysis of visible, near IR and IR optical systems. He teaches optical design as an Associate Professor of Laval University since 1999.
