Producing and Distributing Panomorph Lenses

Lens manufacturers can be licensed to produce and distribute certified patented panomorph lenses. After completing the application form, manufacturers can design their own lens through a Certified Panomorph Optical Design (CPOD) program. They can also opt to design their lens in collaboration with ImmerVision. All certified lenses are guaranteed full compatibility with ImmerVision Enables viewing functionality.

Customized for any Specification

Each panomorph lens is uniquely built and customized. The resolution is defined to the requirements and specifications of each application. Through a succession of glass or plastic lens elements, the thickness and curvature of the lens is designed to achieve any desired result.

Establishing the Lens Specification

Using the Panomorph Geometrical Model Simulator (PGMS), a panomorph lens designer can customize the panomorph lens to any desired specification. The simulator manipulates and controls the distortion curve, to determine the optimal location for increased resolution. Manufacturers can view and define the end results before creating the lens. The PGMS is the only virtual simulator that combines optics with viewing simulation. It is an effective tool for system engineers, optical designers and decision-makers used throughout the development of a panomorph lens from the specification to the management or customer approval.

Lens Production

Lens manufacturers can work with certified panomorph lens designers to define their lens specifications. Once the optical design is approved and certified, the manufacturer is licensed to produce and distribute the certified panomorph lens. Lens production is comprised of several steps.

Step 1: Analyze lens specifications and requirements
Step 2: Define distortion curve and resolution customization
Step 3: Preliminary design phase
Step 4: Mechanical design phase and adjustments
Step 5: Final design phase to validate optical design and create prototype
Step 6: Panomorph lens certification
Step 7: Mass production and distribution under license agreement

Customization Approach

ImmerVision designs custom panomorph lenses and ensures comprehensive quality control every step of the way, from simulation and initial design right up to final production.

  • Optical Simulation - Identify and define the resolution pattern (zones of interest) adapted to target sensor.
  • Optical Design - Design panomorph lens, perform tolerance and create optical element drawings.
  • Algorithms - Port and develop algorithms running on targeted platform with essential functionalities as defined in software detailed specifications.
  • Mechanical Design - Design mechanical envelop (barrel) to hold the various optical components according to requirements relative to the exact position. Perform tolerance for manufacturing and adjust the interface to the housing.
  • Prototypes - Produce engineering models to assure all unit functions work. Pre-production begins.

The Registered Panomorph Lens (RPL) Number

Once an optic is certified ImmerVision Enables, the lens is assigned an RPL number by ImmerVision. This alphanumeric code is its DNA; it incorporates all the panomorph characteristics of the lens. This number is found underneath the ImmerVision Enables logo.

License for the Production and Distribution of Panomorph Lens

Licensees have the opportunity to control the production and distribution of their own certified panomorph lens. ImmerVision offers licensees support in the development of their panomorph lenses and assistance throughout the project from the preliminary lens design phase up to mass production quality assurance test bench.

Benefits and advantages

The custom design approach is a major advantage of panomorph optics. The lens can be customized to meet any specific application requirements.

  • Augmented resolution in any specific area (periphery, center and mid-zone magnification)
  • Customizable to any application
  • Compatibility with all major VMS/NVR/DVR platforms
  • Optimal image quality and sensor coverage
