Montreal, December 4, 2006: The Marseille Observatory has chosen ImmerVision’s optical department to conceptualize a new imager for the 3D-NTT, a new visitor instrument for the 3.6-meter New Technology Telescope (NTT) at the La Silla Observatory in Chile, The NTT is a spectro-imager with both a low resolution mode (100-1,000) using a tunable filter, and a high resolution mode (10,000 – 40,000) using a standard scanning Fabry-Perot. The 3D-NTT instrument will be used as a complementary tool for the VLT to study the evolution of the galaxies. ImmerVision has been mandated to develop a new optical design with an enhanced field of view that will meet specific scientific requirements.
