The HiCIBaS (High Contrast Imaging Balloon System) is a balloon borne telescope whose main goal is to demonstrate the usability of high contrast imaging equipment on board a stratospheric balloon flight.

The project is led by Université Laval in Québec, Québec, with international partners COPL, NASA/JPL, CSA/ASC, NRC/CNRC, NUVU, ABB, OMP, Immervision, Iris AO, Inc., SETI Institute, Universiteit Leiden, University of Victoria, NTCO, Université de Montréal, University of Groningen, and SRON.

   
    

 

    

The main work for the project is led by a team of five graduate students, under the direction of Prof. Simon Thibault of Université Laval in Québec, Québec, Canada.  Professor Thibault is also Immervision Principal Optical Designer and has led development of Immervision panomorph technology.
