The Gemin Planet Imager Science Camera design awarded to ImmerVision’s Optical Department

Montreal, January 10, 2007: ImmerVision has been awarded a contract for the preliminary design of the Gemini Planet Imager science camera, with a planned delivery date of 2010. The Gemini Observatory in Kona, Hawaii, has appointed an international consortium, led by Dr. Bruce Macintosh of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), to build this $25MM US instrument. ImmerVision is partnering with the University of Montreal for the preliminary design of the science camera, which is a cryogenic NIR wide-field spectrograph imager. The contract was awarded by the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA), with Dr. James Larkin from UCLA appointed as principal investigator.
